🧬Mega Evolution

Mega Evolution, a phenomenon only seen in a select few Pokémon, is a transformation that brings unparalleled strength. Can you handle them, trainer?

If you've played Pokémon X/Y, OR/AS, or Sun/Moon, you're no stranger to the concept of Mega Evolution. Mega Evolution occurs when a trainer's bond with their Pokemon is extremely strong, allowing them to undertake an amazing transformation. Here on Cobbleland, it's no different. By crafting a Mega Band and obtaining a Mega Stone for a specific Pokémon, you can unlock the power of Mega Evolution!

Mega Stones

Mega Stones are the items that allow for certain Pokemon to Mega Evolve. These stones can be obtained through various means such as:

Depending on which Mega Stone you obtain, only a certain species of Pokemon will be able to use it. For example, only Ampharos can use Ampharosite, and only Steelix can use Steelixite. For more information on Mega Evolution (i.e which Pokemon can Mega Evolve, their abilities and stat increases, etc.), please take a look at Bulbapedia's articlearrow-up-right on the topic.

Mega Bands

In order to Mega Evolve your Pokemon, you will need a Mega Band. These bands are a way for the trainer to activate their Pokemon's Mega Stone. On Cobbleland, you can obtain Mega Bands through custom crafting recipes.

First, you must craft a Keystone.

The Keystone crafting recipe.

Notice that there is a Megastone used in the recipe. This can be any Megastone that you have available, but be aware that it will be consumed upon crafting and cannot be recovered. Make sure to sacrifice a Megastone you do not plan to currently use.

Once you have the Keystone, you can use it to craft different types of Mega Bands!

After crafting a Mega Band, simply hold it in your main hand and right click. If you do not have the ability already, you will see a message above the hotbar stating that you are now capable of performing Mega Evolution. Congratulations, trainer! Now, choose your strongest partner, and go test the strength of your bond. Note: You only have to use a Mega Bracelet once. Once you use it for the first time, Mega Evolution will be permanently available on any compatible Pokémon.

Mega Evolution

Now that you've created your Mega Band and gotten the correct stone for your Pokémon of choice, it's time to Mega Evolve!

To Mega Evolve outside of battle, make sure your Mega Band is in your main hand, offhand, or /hat slot. Press 'R' to throw out the pokémon, then right click on the pokémon with your mega band.

To Mega Evolve in battle, simply go up to a trainer or wild Pokémon, and send out the Pokémon that you wish to evolve. Upon hitting the "Fight" button, you will see a small button next to the back arrow. When pressing it, you will see that it has turned into a rainbow gradient.

Once selecting your move, your Pokémon will then undergo Mega Evolution.

Cobbleland uses the Generation VII Mega Evolution system, meaning that before any moves are made during the following turn, your Pokémon will have its stats, typing, and (if applicable) ability changed before either user makes a move. This means that if you use a Pokémon such as Garchomp that loses speed when Mega Evolved against a Pokémon that has a speed stat that is similar to Garchomp's speed, you could outspeed your opponent prior to Mega Evolution, but not after. Be sure to Mega Evolve in the right scenario, trainers!

Note: You may have to run the command /updateitem on Mega Stones obtained before the 1.7 update. If you still struggle to Mega Evolve your Pokémon after running this command, please contact a member of staff to have your Mega Stone replaced!
