While out on your journey, you may have plucked the occasional berry from a tree, out in the wild. Similarly to the mainline Pokémon games, these berries are quite important for a rising trainer such as yourself. So, buckle up, and get ready to pick some berries!
Occasionally, out in the wild you will find some small plants resembling trees. These are called Berry Trees. Each Berry Tree has a unique texture, and will have a specific berry assigned to them.
These Berry Trees can be harvested with a yield of around 1-4 berries per harvest by right clicking. With these harvested berries, you are able to plant your very own Berry Trees at the convenience of your own home!
Any and all Berry Trees can be bone mealed, so if you have a surplus of bones and are in dire need of berries, don't be afraid to throw some on your plants!
Additionally, berries will prefer a specific biome, or they can be satisfied by using a certain kind of mulch. We recommend consulting the Cobblemon wiki for information on which berries prefer which kind of mulch or biome.
Many common berries such as Oran, Cheri, Pecha, and more will be found commonly throughout Cobbleland, but some are a bit harder to find. Because of this, there are a few methods that we can employ to make our farming days just a tad bit easier.
Certain Pokémon will drop certain berries. For example, knocking out a Carbink down in the depths may yield a Babiri Berry, a berry not found easily in the wild. Additionally some berries like the Roseli Berry will only be obtainable through Pokémon drops. As such, we recommend consulting the official Cobblemon Drops resource to help locate a berry that you might find particularly difficult to obtain.
Crossbreeding is the third and final method of obtaining new berries. This method consists of planting two different species of berries adjacent to each other, and harvesting them for a chance to obtain a newly mutated berry.
When certain berry trees are planted adjacently to each other, there is a 12.5% chance that a mutated berry will take the spot of a normal berry. These mutated berries can then be harvested and subsequently planted as their own standalone tree, allowing for mass production of the mutated berry. This method is extremely helpful for getting certain berries such as the Tamato, Kelpsy, Qualot, Hondew, and other various berries.
It is important to note, that there are 39 species of berries which can only be obtained through crossbreeding. As such, we recommend using the Cobblemon wiki's page on Berry Trees to correctly crossbreed each berry. This mechanic will be vital to any berry farmer who wishes to complete their whole catalogue of juicy goodness!
Now that we've covered all bases on how to obtain berries, lets focus on the second half; what are their applications? Perhaps most importantly, we have...
For those competitive trainers out there, these items are no stranger. Vitamins are an incredibly quick and efficient way to earn EVs, or Effort Value points, for your Pokémon. Each vitamin will give your Pokémon 10 of its maximum of 510 EV points. We will go more in-depth about EV training in our section of the same name, as vitamins are just one of the many ways to EV train in Cobbleland.
So, how do we get them? For starters, we will need a brewing stand. Be sure to keep an eye out for any Nether Fortresses, or buy a Blaze Rod from /shop
. Once we have our brewing stand, we will need 3 main ingredients;
Medicinal Leeks
Water Bottles
Blaze Powder (for fuel)
Once you have obtained all 3 of these items, you will be able to create a Medicinal Brew. Medicinal Brew is the basis of all vitamin crafting, as well as Potions or Status Healing items.
Now that you've got your Medicinal Brew, its time to focus on step number two: Mint leaves. If you require help locating any mints, be sure to look back on the Flora of Cobblemon page. Each color of mint corresponds to a type of vitamin, similarly to how each mint corresponds to a specific stat.
Mint Color | Vitamin |
---|---|
White | HP Up (Health EVs) |
Red | Protein (Attack EVs) |
Blue | Iron (Defense EVs) |
Cyan | Calcium (Special Attack EVs) |
Pink | Zinc (Special Defense EVs) |
Green | Carbos (Speed EVs) |
Be sure to stock up on all colors of mints to make the correct vitamins! Next up, we'll be focusing on a few miscellaneous ingredients; sugar, raw meat, beetroots, bone meal, raw fish and wheat. Each vitamin recipe will utilize one of these specific ingredients.
Vitamin | Resource |
---|---|
HP Up | Sugar |
Protein | Raw Meat |
Iron | Beetroot |
Calcium | Bone Meal |
Zinc | Raw Fish |
Carbos | Wheat |
Finally, we will require a few certain berries, more specifically the EV reducing berries. These include Pomeg, Kelpsy, Qualot, Hondew, Grepa and Tamato. It is important to note that all berries listed will have to be obtained by crossbreeding.
Vitamin | |
---|---|
HP Up | Pomeg |
Protein | Kelpsy |
Iron | Qualot |
Calcium | Hondew |
Zinc | Grepa |
Carbos | Tamato |
Once you have obtained a decent amount of each material, its time to start crafting your hard-earned Vitamins!
It is important to note that two other vitamins, the PP Up and PP Max, are also obtainable through similar means. However, their recipes are quite a bit different than the other vitamins.
To create a PP Up, you must use a medicinal brew, 2 Leppa Berries (obtained by crossbreeding,) 2 Pep-Up Flowers (obtained by harvesting a Revival Herb) and 2 Vivichoke.
To create a PP Max, you must again use 2 Pep-Up Flowers and 2 Vivichoke, but must also use a PP Up and 2 Hopo Berries (obtained by crossbreeding.)
While not directly affecting your Pokémon's stat points, a PP Up will instead increase the amount of times a certain move may be used during battle. Similarly, a PP Max will max out the possible increases for a move, as opposed to a marginally small increase. These items are extremely important for moves with limited Power Points such as Recover and Roost.
Another use of berries with the brewing stand would be the creation of Potions or Status Healing items (i.e Awakening, Antidote, Paralyze Heal, etc). These items are made by brewing a specific berry into a Medicinal Brew.
Berries may also act as Held Items during battle. When viewing a berry within your inventory, the tooltip will show what the berry's effect would be during battle.
Whenever a certain critera is met, in this case, confusion, the held berry will be consumed, and give its effect during battle. Many berries will restore HP in certain cases, while others might increase a certain stat, or lower a specific type of damage.
We recommend to try various different berries out in battle, as some moves and abilities such as Pluck, Fling, or Gluttony also have interactions with them. Get creative, trainers!
Certain berries such as the EV reducing berries may be fed to your Pokemon outside of battle. When doing so, your Pokemon will have on average an increase of 10 Friendship for each berry fed, with a gradual diminishing return. This makes berries a very convenient way to quickly increase your friendship with a Pokémon!
